Reef Recorder

The 'Reef Recorder' was first published on the 5th June, 1052 with this included in its opening paragraph; 'no guarantee is given as to how often it will be published but you can rest assured it will be printed as often as possible." Fourteen days later the second Recorder was published. Another edition was published in July the same year.

1953, 1954 and 1955 passed without any further publications until July, 1956 when Hugh Kesterton got the presses rolling once more. In that season 1956/57 Hugh published ten Recorders.

What you might call a "Recorder" depression hit again when in 1958 we saw three publications and in 1959 two, 1960 a Recorder was published every month although in recent years there have been approximately five editions a year.

The Recorder serves a dual purpose for the club, it is an effective way advising members of the activities of the club and a means of poke fun at ourselves and others in satirical articles. (Taken from the December 1965 Reef Recorder, edited by A.M. Freeman)
